5 tips to fulfill your New Year's resolutions

January 15 is the official day where most people leave their New Year's resolutions aside and return to their routine without meeting the objectives that had been set for 2021. If you are one of those who is throwing in the towel, wait! Read these 5 tips before you give up.

1. Start small 
It is always better aim high, but always breaking it down into smaller achievements. As my grandfather used to say "Short step and long sight".
The goals that fail are usually "exercise more" or "eat healthier". Although the intention is good, they do not offer solutions, only the problem. Change it to "half the plate will always be with vegetables" or "30' walking a day".

2. Think positive 
Most people respond much better to positive impulses than punishment, so try to find the positive part of your new routine. For example, starting out in the gym can be hard, but when you start to feel more energetic and motivated, you're doing something positive for your health and that feels good. 

3. Build a winning routine

Once you've settled on a small, positive daily goal, find aplace to record your progress, such as the mobile, a whiteboard or the calendar. As you build your "winning streak", you'll be able to see what you've accomplished - and you'll be more motivated to continue.

4. Find the hitch

New healthy habits get a big momentum when we get hooked on our daily routine. It can be as simple as placing tangerines where you normally grab a cookie, or packing your gym bag for the night and leaving it ready at your front door. This will help make it easier for you, and you will be well on your way to success.

5. Don't worry about mistakes

Success is not about avoiding failure at all costs, but about learning and improving over time. And in fact, research shows that the best problem solvers are those who bounce back from early setbacks, and keep going. Therefore, every time you make a mistake (everyone does!), try to reframe it as an opportunity to come back stronger and wiser.

Every time you try again, you are building your ability to turn things around.
